It’s Almost Ceilidh Time!

cèilidh (/ˈkli/ KAY-lee) is a traditional Scottish and Irish social gathering. In its most basic form, it simply means a social visit. Rejoining us this year as Ceilidh Band will be our friends Roane! A perfect fit for folk festivals, parties, renaissance festivals, bars or pubs, Roane is prepared to share with you a unique musical experience. With an exciting acoustic sound and intricate harmonies, Roane specializes in Celtic, folk, and maritime music with their own personal twist. Roane’s original compositions embrace the spirit of the storyteller, pouring out heart-felt lyrics and melodies. Their music embodies the soul of their Celtic ancestry. Formed in 2012, Roane’s dedication to their folk roots has remained and their onstage energy and enthusiasm has earned them a strong following across Michigan and beyond!

We will be joined by our fellow pipe bands Grand Rapids and District Pipe Band and Muskegon Regional Police Pipes and Drums!

Formed in 1968 as “The Piping Society of Grand Rapids”, the band consisted of roughly 10 members including its founding members: Alan Wilson, Ed Gavin, Jim Pringle, Harry Ohanesian, Bill Campbell, and Larry MacPherson.  Shortly thereafter, the group changed the name to the Grand Rapids Pipe Band and elected its first Pipe Major. 2018 the band celebrated its 50th anniversary and represents a new resurgence for the band. Many of the members are just starting out their journey on the pipes, but have been very eager to keep learning.

The Muskegon Regional Police Pipes and Drums is one of the few service pipe bands in the State of Michigan. They support Police and Fire departments across West Michigan, as well as Veteran groups. Along with service related functions, including memorial services, they are available for performing at parades, festivals and other events.

What would a Ceilidh be without our favorite Highland and Irish Dancers?!

At the Ardan Academy of Irish Dance where we nurture the love for Irish dance in a friendly and supportive environment. Their dedicated team of talented teachers and staff are committed to helping students reach their full potential in both dance and life. With a strong foundation in traditional Irish dance techniques and a focus on personal growth, our students excel both on and off the dance floor.

Auburn Glen School of Dance provides highland dance education to all ages. They provide competition tracks for some of the region’s most successful highland dancers. They provid a truly premiere experience!

While change can be hard, we know you will love our new location and format. We look forward to seeing everyone again on February 24th for the New Annual Ceilidh!
