Fenton Center of Hope

Building community
Strengthening families
Sharing HOPE

The Center of Hope has a vision to love and serve their neighbors who are hungry, hurting, in need, or in crisis.

The Center of Hope is an independent and unaffiliated 501C3 nonprofit organization that serves primarily in Genesee, SHiawassee, Livingston, and Oakland Counties (Fenton, Holly, Linden, Argentine, Gaines, Byron, Durand, Highland, Harland, Mundy Township, Grand Blanc). Their goals are accomplished with the help and cooperation of many churches (denominations), businesses, and organizations who share a heart for their neighbors and communities.

There are a number of programs provided by the Center of Hope to serve the community. They offer a variety of classes that cover topics such as cooking, budgeting, parenting, gardening, crafting, menu planning, nutrition and exercise. Their classes change month to month and you can contact them directly (810-620-8300) to be updated on their class schedule.

They have an amazing team of qualified individuals that can assist you in resume writing, coach you in interview skills, teach computer skills and help you search for employment. They are here to help! It is the Center’s goal to encourage those desiring to provide for their families by equipping them with the skills needed to make themselves as prepared as possible for employment.

Emergency Housing is a tremendous need in our area. The Center of hope has plans for emergency housing that would accommodate as many as 50 individuals. In time all three houses on the Center of Hope property, starting with a small efficiency apartment in the First House will be remodeled as short term rooms or apartments. Completion of this project is by far the Center’s biggest financial need.

Going to a food pantry for assistance can be a humbling and difficult decision, so the Center strives to make each of their guests feel welcomed. Since the Center’s inception their goal has been to ensure that the services they provide are tailored to meet the specific needs of families in need. They have a food pantry set up as a mini grocery store so that people can choose the food they need and prefer rather than simply getting a one size fits all box of food. The Center also strives to address the underlying source of the crisis and look to provide life skills classes to help individuals succeed in areas they currently struggle with.

In an effort to raise funds for the Center’s many good works several events are planned through the year. Coming up this week the Center of Hope hosts the Chef Showdown! You don’t want to miss Chef Showdown 2023, a fast-paced, exciting evening focused on a three course culinary competition in which the competing chefs are challenged to use a secret ingredient in each course. This year’s Chef Showdown will be held at the Flint Farmers’ Market, an amazing venue perfect for an event like this. Masters of Ceremonies, Will Stiverson and Kurt Chapelle will direct the evening as three celebrity judges critique and rank the culinary submissions.

Throughout the evening enjoy fantastic food from a wide variety of area restaurants, as well as live entertainment, including your own Flint Scottish Pipe Band, and more!
