Saying Good-Bye to Our Friend John

For those that have been with the band community a while, we just learned of the passing of John King.  John was a bass drummer and piper with the band for several years.  He could be counted on to help us fill out the band when we were short staffed, even taking on the job of bass drummer for the short lived youth band on occasion. He could be counted on to bring a positive attitude to any band function.

John Burne King III, 65, of Flint, died Friday, November 25, 2022, at Medilodge of Montrose. He was born on June 16, 1957, to Beatrice Isabel and John Burne King II in Flint, Michigan. Respecting John’s wishes, he will be cremated and no funeral services will be held.

John worked for General Motors for more than 30 years until retirement. He was an avid skier, a long-standing member of Schussmeisters’ Ski and Board Club and a member of the ski patrol at Mt. Holly for many years. John was also a super-fan of the Detroit Red Wings and the Flint Firebirds. John is survived by his brother Keith and sister-in-law Flo, his dear friend Deborah McConnell and many other family members and friends.
